Our activewear yarn is produced from recycled ghost fishing nets.
According to a report by World Animal Protection, approximately 640,000 tonnes of fishing nets are discarded in our oceans each year . These ghost nets which float adrift or lie submerged, are responsible for the accidental death of hundreds upon thousands of marine animals including whales, dolphins, seals and turtles. On top of this, ghost nets can smother the seabed and cause severe marine habitat disturbance. Fortunately this nylon waste can be collected, broken down, and combined with other pre- and post-consumer waste to transform it into ECONYL® regenerated nylon. By using sustainable materials such as these, we lessen our negative environmental impact whilst also cleaning up our oceans.
